Västerbergslagen Education Association is looking for a teacher in Swedish as a second language

Västerbergslagens utbildningsförbund, VBU, is a municipal association that provides upper secondary education, adult education, vocational higher education, and commissioned education. We are also responsible, on behalf of the municipalities of Ludvika and Smedjebacken, for the municipal activity responsibility and the culture school.

VBU has about 260 employees and a total of 2,800 students, with a turnover of 260 million SEK. Our operations are conducted in Ludvika, Smedjebacken, and Grängesberg. More information about VBU and our various schools can be found on our website www.vbu.se (http://www.vbu.se).

About you

You have a teaching degree with at least 30 credits in Swedish as a second language and a teaching license or other qualifications deemed equivalent. You should have good digital skills and an interest in building courses flexibly. A prerequisite for thriving with us is that you, like us, believe that it is possible to create one of Sweden's best schools and workplaces through high quality, participation, safety, cooperation, clarity, and respect.

Your tasks

The position is 50% at SFI and 50% at the youth gymnasium.

At SFI, you will teach an introductory group. These are students who have just started their studies at SFI. During the introductory course, they will begin to familiarize themselves with the Swedish language. During the course, they will be assessed so that at the end of the course, they will be informed about which course they will be placed in when the course ends. You and the regular teacher will make that assessment together. There is clear and structured material ready to use. You must be proficient in both Swedish and English as we work with at least two languages in the classroom. It is an advantage if you speak multiple languages.

At the youth gymnasium, you will be responsible for your own course in Swedish as a second language and provide support in the classroom together with another licensed teacher in Swedish as a second language. You may also be responsible for smaller support groups in Swedish as a second language for students who need extra help with their reading and writing development.

Work on-site in Ludvika.

About the employment conditions

The position is a fixed-term special employment of 100% until June 12, 2026. There is a great opportunity for continued employment after the summer, depending on whether the necessary decisions are made. Start date is March 23, 2026, or earlier by agreement.

We require a criminal record extract upon employment.

About the application

You apply by registering your profile and attaching a personal letter and CV in our recruitment system. The application deadline is February 27, 2026.

Interviews will be conducted continuously, and hiring may occur before the application deadline.
